XIV World Forestry Congress Side Event – Steering Committee Meeting of Forestry College Deans Meeting Mechanism in the Asia-Pacific Region(FCDMM-APR)
The last Steering Committee Meeting of FCDMM-APR was held on 9th September 2015 in South Africa. The meeting shared achievements met over the past four years, discussed and revised the framework, elected a new Chair and Co-Chairs, and also addressed current issues, the future development of the mechanism, the improvement of services and partnership with forestry colleges (university, school, and faculty) throughout the Asia-Pacific region. The University of British Columbia had been elected to be the Chair of the next four-year term and the University of Putra Malaysia to be the new Co-Chair. XIV World Forestry Congress Side Event – Innovating Forestry Education and Training – Effective Learning in the New Era, 8th September 2015
This is the first Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) in forestry, and the innovative methods applying in transforming the forestry education system. Supported by APFNet, University of University of British Columbia (UBC), Beijing Forestry University (BFU), University of Melbourne (MU), University Putra Malaysia (UPM) and University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB) worked together created first six online SFM courses. The session was of interest to academics, students and young professionals. This event aimed to share innovative forestry education and training methods in the Asia – Pacific region as well as the global experience and explore the potential for up-scaling the success of regional forestry education partnerships and training experiences.
